Cleaning Haaltert: Mobiqam vs. Littering & Illegal Dumping

​All across Europe, towns and cities are struggling with the problem of littering and illegal dumping.

Haaltert, a small municipality in #belgium, is using Mobiqam to catch culprits in the act and deter others from engaging in these illegal activities.

These Mobiqam units were equipped with a motion sensor that triggers them to take pictures when they detect movement.The pictures are then sent to police, who uses them to identify the culprits and issue fines accordingly.

"We've been using Mobiqam units for a few months now, and they've already yielded results," says a police officer in Haaltert. "We've been able to identify several people who have illegally dumped waste and have issued fines accordingly."

Mobiqam’s key advantage is its mobility. Mobiqam units can be easily moved around to different locations as needed and when needed. Setting the unit in another location takes less than 5 minutes which ensures authorities can have a quick response whenever this problem is detected.

But is not only that, Mobiqam also has a preventive effect, as people will think twice before littering or dumping their waste illegally when they see the units in place.

"The Mobiqam units are a very useful tool in our fight against littering and illegal dumping," says Veerle Baeyens, the mayor of Haaltert. "They've helped us to identify several offenders and have had a preventive effect as well." The goal of the program in Haaltert is to make the town a cleaner and more attractive place to live, work, and visit.
